Hearing Aid Compatibility and Professional Headsets
What are your options if you are hearing impaired and need to use a headset to perform your job?
More and more companies are offering solutions to help employees with hearing disabilities.
The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) has provided specifications that detail what is required for products that offer assistive listening. Because hearing loss is highly individual, it is always advised that users test product solutions that are offered to see if they work for them.
Hearing aids with Telecoils perform better with telephone headsets that are specified to be compatible with T-Coils or telecoils. T-Coils are used to replace the hearing aid microphone which is becoming very popular, and more hearing aid manufacturers are offering them. T-Coils are used to eliminate problems of acoustic access or that irritating feedback noise.
Some companies provide Neck Loop Pendants that use built-in microphones for their employees. These pendants may come corded or some are cordless using Bluetooth® technology. Though pendants are compatible with T-Coil hearing aids and may improve general hearing, they cannot be used with headsets.
Lexair offers some headset solutions that are very popular to those with hearing disabilities:
The EncorePro models HW510 and HW520 meet Hearing Aid Compatible (HAC) regulations required by the FCC for hearing aids that use Telecoils. Available in both single ear and dual ear models.

- Noise-canceling mic for average to loud environments
